For 40 years, my son and I have attended Sudbury Symphony concerts and have seen many developments over those years.

We started attending when my son was six years old. As a pretty severely disabled kid, he could not take part in hockey or other sports like others his age, but he loved music. So every year, he insisted that we had to get season tickets again.

Since 1976, the SSO has made a huge contribution to the cultural life of our community. I have marveled at the good fortune of Sudburians to have such a fine orchestra right here, providing opportunities for skilled musicians, young and old, to keep those skills in tune, so to speak.

We have so much musical talent right in our own community, plus we have been treated to wonderful guest performers. As well, a platform has been provided for new talent, a music school has been sponsored, and education has taken place in our schools.

The Sudbury Symphony Orchestra is worth keeping, and I urge the community as a whole to support it at this time of need — all those who have, at one time or another, been able to enjoy an evening of more classical music or those would like to do so without having to go out of town.

The SSO is an important part of the cultural life of this community. We need it and we must not allow it to go under!
