Sometime in 1966, a few ladies decided to help make life a little more pleasant for widows and widowers and their families. They called the organization the WHEO Club (Widows or Widowers Help Each Other).

It seems they held many dances, had regular card parties, played darts, held picnics, etc., while enjoying new and old friendships.

Fifty years later, that club is still around (with a couple of original ladies, too). The activities have changed somewhat — we no longer have dances (too much work), but we do play cars, Mondays from 6:30-9 p.m. at Parkside: Uno, cribbage and 500, and we have many dinners throughout the year (potluck or catered) and an annual picnic.

WHEO has taken on a new meaning — “We” help each other enjoy life.

We welcome new members, regardless of age, race, creed of sex.
