Letter: Writer exposes Harper’s ‘unholy trinity’

There are currently three nationwide issues before us. Firstly, medical marijuana.

There are currently three nationwide issues before us. Firstly, medical marijuana.

For those who know how the demonization of cannabis got started, it is simply silly that people who need its medicinal value would have the government force them to buy from companies, even if they have been growing it themselves.

Second, the news that the Harper government seems to think there is some justification to telling farmers they may not keep the seeds from their crops. It forces them into the arms of companies such as Monsanto.

Finally, is the issue of the Unfair Elections Act. Forgetting the silliness of suggesting that vouching for a person so they can vote might be the end of civilization as we know it, let us focus on the bigger issue of muzzling Elections Canada.

What conceivable reason can there be to not trust the Chief Electoral Officer to go about informing Canadians of their right, and duty as citizens, to go out and vote, and furthermore to investigate any improprieties, and to publicly inform of such?

Let’s call these three Stephen Harper’s unholy trinity.
