Everywhere we turn, we see toys and
decorations and sales. We hear Christmas carols, and the sounds
of angry mobs of people rushing through the malls to get
last-minute gifts. The scent of gingerbread cookies and hot
chocolate tend to reach our noses making us hungry for sweets.
But is this
really what Christmas is about?
Is it only about Santa Claus, reindeer and
how many presents are under the tree?
When you turn on the TV, you see so many
commercials for things that people just "have" to have. But do
you really think that we need all these gifts?
Shouldn't spending time with family and
friends and enjoying the life we have be more important than
opening presents on Christmas morning?
I think if more people focus on the story of
Jesus' birth instead of the legend of the big man in the red
suit, then maybe the true meaning of Christmas
will be more evident and people would start
celebrating the gift of family and friends, instead of the
gifts in wrapped boxes.
