In the article MPs grilled over Hep C by
Heidi Ulrichsen in the Oct. 14 edition, Sudbury MP Diane
Marleau said the government decided to compensate victims
earlier this year, but a lawsuit launched by pre-1986 Hep C
victims is preventing them from handing out the money.
That's just not true.Victims are not
preventing them from handing out money.
The government compensated HIV/AIDS victims
promptly while they still had a class action lawsuit against
the government.
Victims have been lied to so many times by
the federal government, I suspect they are stalling for time
until the next election.
I know so many Hep C victims who have died
fighting for compensation. When they died, all they wanted was
to go with dignity and leave something to their spouse and
children.
The only mistake they made was to trust the
government to keep Canada's blood industry safe. They didn't
know about the greedy people in charge of a very profitable
blood trade.
Shame on this heartless Liberal government
for turning their backs on victims. They shouldn't be fighting
sick and dying people when their neglect caused their
illness.
Forgive me for comparing, but I'm very
impressed by Paul Martin's breakneck speed in aiding earthquake
victims in Pakistan. By the way when was the last time the
prime minister met with blood victims?
