With regards to the story, Energuide program axed by feds, I am writing in response to Nickel Belt MP Ray Bonin's comments regarding the future of FedNor in Northern Ontario.
I would like to remind my colleague that Prime Minister Stephen
Harper made a commitment to renew FedNor's mandate to support
programs and provide services that strengthen the economy of
Northern Ontario, a commitment that has been kept by Canada's
new government in our May, 2006 budget.
Under my leadership, FedNor will continue to work with
communities across northern and rural Ontario on vital economic
initiatives.
I would like to personally reassure Northern Life readers that
Canada's new government values FedNor and the very important
job it is doing to open doors and build futures for a
prosperous Northern Ontario.
