The boy who would be king - Julie St.Marseille

I just wanted to share a conversation I had with my five- year old son. We were discussing how powerful the ideas in his head are. They were continually getting him in trouble at home and sometimes at school.

I just wanted to share a conversation I had with my five- year old son. We were discussing how powerful the ideas in his head are. They were continually getting him in trouble at home and sometimes at school. My husband and I were becoming increasingly more frustrated at having to compete with our son's own agenda.

I told my son it is wonderful he has such good and powerful ideas. Maybe someday he could be a boss or a president of a big company, but for now he has to be a little boy who listens to Mommy and Daddy's rules.

He responded, "I don't want to be a boss or a president."

"What would you like to be when you grow up?" I asked. His answer: "King!"

I told my husband, "He doesn't need to see a doctor, but maybe we do."

How do you parent a pint -sized-wannabe-king?
