Writing's on the wall - Fern Cormier

I read with interest the enthusiasm that Councillor Fran Caldarelli has for eliminating graffiti in Ward 10. What surprised me though was that she admitted to only becoming aware of the problem within the past few weeks.

I read with interest the enthusiasm that Councillor Fran Caldarelli has for eliminating graffiti in Ward 10. What surprised me though was that she admitted to only becoming aware of the problem within the past few weeks. The graffiti has been there for months, and in some cases over a year. I know because I see it every day. Where has she been?

When she does decide to do something about it, if you can call it that, she decides that exploring options and having meetings are the way to go. This is ridiculous. It's graffiti for goodness sake, just fix it. I agree that it has to be dealt with, but I don't agree that we need to "study" the problem to death in order to fix it.

This is the type of thing that has to stop. We have a councillor who decides after two plus years on the job, and with elections just around the corner, that this is the most pressing issue that she must deal with? Where was she when our taxes went up, when user fees were imposed and expanded, where was she when questions needed to be asked about deals the city was getting into with private businesses?

We don't need a committee to solve this problem. We need direction to staff to get it fixed without the needless hoopla.
