Looking back upon the performance of the city council exposes unfortunate realities. Politicians at every level constantly use the excuse that outside forces made them do whatever it is they should not have done.

No smoking by-law in bingo halls? Great idea! A bingo runs approximately two hours, which includes a 10-minute break half way through. People can go outdoors if they need a cigarette.

Outrage should be the Canadian reaction to the current political games. In deposing Paul Martin and dumping Herb Grey, Jean Chretien proves the only thing that matters to him is his career. Poor Canada. Stupid Canada.

People live in northern Ontario because we are attracted to the opportunity to work in the unspoiled beauty of the north, the strong sense of community and the lack of work stress seen in the bigger cities of southern Ontario.

Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002 I'm all for the less garbage, more recycling campaign that our city is trying so hard to impose on us.

Once again the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce, in its response to the city's call for change, has shown why this city seems to be adrift: a lack of vision. The point of governance is democracy; not necessarily "doing business.

With regards to the article, Power to the people, in the Sunday, July 25 edition, the customers paying the utility rates are "the people" whose interests are never considered by union leaders.
