Summer's almost here and what better way to celebrate the return of the sun with outdoor concerts in Bell Park.

The third annual Vale Summer Concert Series — in support of the Sudbury Food Bank — kicks off May 21 with a 7 p.m. performance in Bell Park by Canadian blues talent Charlie A'Court.

Vale announced the lineup for this year's series with a $50,000 donation to the Sudbury Food Bank.

“Since beginning the Vale Concert Series two years ago, we have been amazed at the generosity of the people in our community,” said Kelly Strong, vice-president of Vale’s Ontario & UK operations. “We thought it was appropriate to show Vale’s continued support through this $50,000 donation, which will help the Sudbury Food Bank operate and feed more than 17,000 people a month in Greater Sudbury.”

If you've got the time, do yourself a favour and swing by Grace Hartman Amphitheatre for the show — A'Court is a bluesman like no other, and you'll be supporting the food bank at the same time.

Noted for top-tier Canadian talent, the Vale Concert Series is gaining a reputation as one of the more popular annual music traditions in Sudbury.

Admission to all five monthly concerts is free, but monetary donations to the Sudbury Food Bank are welcomed.

A’Court is a multiple award winner, picking up East Coast Music Awards in 2013 for Blues Album Of The Year and in 2009 as Nova Scotia’s Entertainer Of The Year.

With Eric Clapton as a major influence, A'Court has an outstanding voice, killer guitar licks and songwriting skills that are second to none. He's shared stages with the likes of George Thoroughgood, Procol Harum, Colin James and James Cotton.

While categorized as a blues artist, A’Court crosses genres with very strong soul and rhythm and blues influences in his live performances.

The Vale Concert Series was the winner of a 2014 City Of Greater Sudbury Healthy Community Recognition Award. With more than $32,000 raised so far, the series is a win-win for Sudbury by providing quality music while helping feed the 17,000 people a month who need the Sudbury Food Bank.

Travelodge Hotel also generously provides accommodation for all of the artists.

The schedule for concerts can be found in the inside cover of the 2014 City of Greater Sudbury spring/summer leisure guide or a schedule can be picked up at the first concert.
