And the winners are: Wordstock hands out literary prizes during virtual festival

The Wordstock Sudbury Literary Festival, held virtually earlier this month, has handed out some more literary prizes.

The winners of the Youthwords Writing Contest were announced at the festival’s opening session Nov. 5.

Judges included author Chelene Knight, City of Greater Sudbury Poet Laureate Vera Constantineau and local journalists Jim Moodie and Jan Lakes.

Congratulations are extended to:

  • First Place Short Story: Meghan Waltenbury for My Dear Imani
  • Runner Up Short Story: Abigail Oshell for Fabrication of The Modern Human
  • First Place Poetry: Mackenzie Roberts for Winter Nights
  • Runner Up Poetry: Michelle Ruff for Pumpkin’s End

The fourth annual Sudbury Poetry Slam was held online as well. Returning poets and new poets performed virtually, with the first place going to Lindsay Mayhew, second place to Michelle Loubert and third place to Keva Bunge.
