The Sudbury Arts Council invites community members to apply to be a member of its board.

The volunteer board is devoted to promoting the arts in the Sudbury region, whether film, dance, photography, theatre, visual arts, writing, music and more.

Its mandate is to Connect, Communicate and Celebrate the Arts.

Since 1974, the Sudbury Arts Council has been a partner in festivals and art crawls, the establishment of Cinéfest, Sudbury Writers’ Guild, Wordstock Literary Festival, Gallery 6500, the Sudbury Celebration of the Arts, the Arts Cultural Passport, concerts and exhibitions, Cultural Days, Arts Meets Business, the publication of an artists' inventory, public art promotion and Downtown Sudbury events.

The Sudbury Arts Council welcomes a variety of viewpoints that reflect the diversity of our community, said a press release. A balanced board is comprised of businesspersons, community-minded citizens and artists.

Board members must be prepared to attend one meeting per month, lend their expertise to select cultural endeavours and serve for a minimum of two years.

The Sudbury Arts Council invites interested candidates to e-mail SAC at [email protected] by Oct. 19.

The current president of the Sudbury Arts Council is Linda Cartier of Financial Decisions.
