Three McEwen School of Architecture students collaborate with Galerie du Nouvel Ontario (GNO) for an exhibit called Partage/Partake, running in February and March.

The exhibit starts in the architecture school's telegraph building at 49 Elgin St., and leads to the GNO across the road at 54 Elgin St.***

It uses the GNO “as a canvas to encourage reflection on our relationship to space and our interactions with it.”

The proximity of GNO and the architecture school is an opportunity to highlight the hidden or unknown places that surround us, each of which is home to its own worlds, ways, and even culture, said a press release.

During a circuit that links the school to the gallery, the public is invited to interact with a series of installations composed of drawings and objects.

The exhibit “is handed to the audience in the manner of a relay where the meaning differs according to the angle of approach.”

Partage/Partake is presented as part of the McEwen School of Architecture’s fourth Nuit Blanche, an annual event that takes the building by storm with projects led by the students, transforming their daily place of learning into a showcase for their artistic projects.

This shift in the meaning and uses of an institution is part of the installation series’ approach to emphasizing what is invisible when too familiar.

The exhibit is by students Andrei Aranyi, Jonathan Kabumbe and Jennie Philipow in collaboration with Kai Wood Mah and Patrick Lynn Rivers.

You can check out the exhibit as part of the architecture school's Nuit Blanche event at 7 p.m. Feb. 8. After that, an opening reception and discussion takes place Feb. 13 at 5 p.m., and the exhibit runs until March 14.

***A previous version of this story incorrectly said the exhibit was solely located at GNO.
