Sudbury Theatre Centre is inviting submissions from writers to take part in The PlayMine, a new initiative for theatre artists living in, or writing about, Northern Ontario.

STC is thrilled to be bringing Northern Ontario theatre back into the building during its 2018-2019 season, a press release said.

A collaboration with Pat the Dog Theatre Creation, The PlayMine will be a series of script readings taking place on three evenings throughout the season.

This series will give writers vital development time, dramaturgical support and a chance to hear their work read aloud by professional actors in front of an audience.

Deadline for submissions Aug. 17. Selected playwrights will be contacted in September.

Writers from Northern Ontario or writers working on plays relevant to life in Northern Ontario are all encouraged to apply.

Scripts should be complete drafts or works-in-progress from either established or emerging playwrights. Scripts may have already received development (dramaturgy, workshops, readings) or limited production.

Submissions should include a cover letter with contact information and a short biography of the writer(s), a synopsis and development history of the proposed project, as well as a full draft or short sample of the script in progress.

Packages can be sent electronically in PDF or Word format to [email protected].

For more information, contact STC's artistic director John McHenry at [email protected].
