Artists on Elgin will close its doors for the final time at the end of the month.

Since 2004, Artists on Elgin has been part of a unique niche market that promotes Northern Ontario artists and their work and has sold more than $1.18 million of art since its beginnings.

"In the last few years the corporation has been facing sustainability issues and thanks to prosperous years we have been able to deal with the challenging times," said a news release from Artists on Elgin.

"At a recent meeting, the majority of members voted to ratify and approve a resolution recommended by the board to close Artist on Elgin as of June 30."

Artists on Elgin is a project of the corporation officially known as The Northern Artist Gallery. The corporation is not dissolving and will continue to exist. The board’s focus will be to develop a new business model that will address the future business and marketing needs of Northern Ontario artists.

"The Northern Artist Gallery Board wishes to thank all their patrons for their support over the years and for their understanding as we endeavour to develop anew business model that will position the organization to continue fulfilling our mandate for years to come," said the news release.
