Award-winning Canadian novelist, playwright, actor, and television host Ann-Marie MacDonald is the guest at this year’s Celebrate Women event.

MacDonald is perhaps best known for her award-winning novel “Fall on Your Knees,” which was made into a six-hour play of the same name.

The event is put on through a partnership with the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) Sudbury, YWCA Sudbury and LEAF Sudbury.

The event runs at 7:30 p.m. on June 5 at the Sheridan Auditorium at Sudbury Secondary School. It will also be available to stream.

Tickets cost $20 each, and are available at Adoro Olive Oils and Vinegars, the Apollo Restaurant and online through EventBrite.

CFUW Sudbury has again partnered with the YWCA and the Women’s Legal, Education and Action Fund (LEAF) to raise much-needed funds to assist women and girls in the Sudbury area.

CFUW Sudbury awards approximately $8,000 in scholarships annually

YWCA Sudbury provides safe housing and support for women and children escaping intimate partner abuse

Women’s LEAF (Legal Education and Action Fund) Sudbury litigates and educates to strengthen the substantive equality rights of women and girls, as guaranteed by the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
