Bends and Brews returns this week

Local businesses pair up for second installment of popular event

Two local businesses are partnering up once again to bring an evening of yoga and beer sampling to Sudbury residents.

ARC Climbing Yoga Fitness and Stack Brewing will host Bends and Brews for the second time on June 23, after a successful debut a year ago.

This year's event will be larger than the 2015 event as the yoga class will be moved outdoors to accommodate more people. This event also marks the launch of a more regular partnership between ARC and Stack as Bends and Brews is slated to become a month event until September.

“Last year was a really packed event and we ended up having a few people doing the class outside,” said Laura Schmidt, manager of marketing and sales, ARC.

“This year, weather permitting, we're just going to have the entire class outside of the brewery so that we can accommodate more people.”

The event is capped at 25 people, but Schmidt says that if more people show up with the $20 admission fee, staff will do their best to fit them in.

ARC and Stack will be partnering for “Sunday Run Day” as well throughout the summer, with ARC staff leading bi-weekly runs that start at the brewery.

“The goal is to stagger events so that every two weeks we're hosting something,” said Schmidt.

As for Bends and Brews, the event is open to all and you don't have to be a yoga expert to take part.

“It's a really accessible class so everyone is able to participate,” said Schmidt. “It's a great way to introduce people to yoga who never tried it. Last year we had quite a few people come out who had never done it before and they really enjoyed it.”

The event is a 19+ admission, as alcohol will be served. Interested participants can check out the workshops section on ARC's website

Bends and Brews gets underway at 6:30 p.m. and runs until 8:30 p.m.

There's more going on at Stack this week as well, as the brewery will celebrate their third anniversary on Saturday with a Tacogeddon parking lot party at their Kelly Lake Road location.

Participants are reminded to show up in their yoga gear as Stack Brewing does not have change rooms, and to bring a yoga mat if you have one.
