Due to a case of laryngitis contracted by Theory of a Deadman frontman Tyler Connolly, the band isn't able to play at the third annual Budweiser New Music Fest at the Grace Hartman Amphitheatre this weekend.

Fortunately organizers were able to book Big Wreck at the last minute for the headliner concert.

Also on the bill for this concert are Monster Truck, The Glorious Sons, Gentlemen Husbands, Golden Gate Graves and Sudbury group, Echoes the Lion.

“We were absolutely stunned when we heard the news,” said Paul Fairley, festival director. “We’ve dealt with a lot of hurdles in our experience, but never our co-headliner of a festival cancelling last minute and with no warning.

“We were faced with an awkward decision of cancelling the show while upsetting a lot of excited festival-goers, which isn’t what anyone wants and would be quite ridiculous.

“Or, we could pull a rabbit out of our hat and save the day, which, thanks to Big Wreck, is certainly the case. We appreciate everyone's understanding in the matter and are wishing Tyler of Theory a very speedy recovery.”

Budweiser New Music Fest Sudbury will host more than 35 live regional and national acts of various genres, performing at multiple live music venues.

Participating venues will each host three to four established and developing touring artists, collectively sharing multiple festival stages. These venues include Grace Hartman Amphitheatre, Coulson Nightclub (patio), Cousin Vinny’s, Peddler’s Pub and The Townehouse.

Advance tickets to the June 7 headliner concert are available at Lockerby Confectionery (1513 Paris St, Sudbury) or online at www.NewMusicFest.ca.
