Capreol will be a cool place to hang out this coming Father's Day.
The Northern Ontario Railway Museum and Heritage Centre (NORMHC) is presenting the annual Rods N' Rails Classic Car Show. There's also a model railway show, a fundraiser breakfast, a barbecue event and a beer tent.
The event will take place on Father’s Day, June 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine, at 26 Bloor St., Capreol.
This event is a family fun filled day with numerous classic vehicles on display, which includes everything from classics to sport compacts and custom-built cars, said a news release from NORMHC.
The Sudbury Street Rod Association will be presenting a “Club Choice Award” again this year along with Valve Cover Races and Belt Toss Games.
Dash Plaques will be provided to the first 100 cars registered. Car registration starts at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. Major prizes to be announced at 3 p.m
There will be live entertainment courtesy of local band “Bluez Brotherz” along with a barbecue, and 46 North Brewing will be hosting the Beer Tent, said the release.
Early risers are invited to join the breakfast event before the car show with the Army Cadets (2915 2nd Battalion Irish Regiment of Canada) from Capreol as they host a Father’s Day Breakfast fundraiser from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
This all takes place at the Capreol Royal Canadian Legion Branch 179. Breakfast includes scrambled eggs, bacon or sausages, home fries, toast, juice and coffee for $7 (cash only).
The Sudbury Railway Modellers will host a Model Train Show again this year at the Heritage Centre. Members will be on hand to inform people about their club and how you can get involved.
Free transit will be available to and from the event from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. provided by GOVA. Simply board GOVA and inform the driver you are travelling for the “Classic Car Show” event in Capreol, and you can ride for free, said the news release. Admission to the park is also free.
