Capreol's Santa Claus Parade and Tree Lighting takes place Saturday evening.

The event starts at 5 p.m. with a candle walk from the Northern Ontario Railway Museum to the Cenotaph, where carol singing will be led by the Capreol Community Choir.

The Tree Lighting will follow, along with horse-drawn wagon rides courtesy of Wagon Wheel Ranch. Mr. and Mrs. Claus will visit with children at the Cenotaph Gazebo and then they will be whisked away to their float in the parade.

The parade starts at 6 p.m. sharp.

The Capreol Lions Club Christmas Hamper Food Drive is also taking place and food is being collected at local businesses around town, so don't forget to bring a non-perishable food donation. Bins will be located at the gazebo and also upstairs at the Rec Centre following the parade.

Fireworks will be set off at the Rec Centre following the parade.

Immediately after the fireworks, there'll be refreshments, kids' crafts and pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus in the upstairs hall at the Capreol Arena. Sleigh rides continue outside the arena until 8 p.m.

Greater Sudbury Transit is providing free transportation to and from this event.

Passengers boarding Route 703 Val Caron / Hanmer / Capreol between 2:30 p.m. and 9:25 p.m. will travel to and from Capreol, free of charge. Passengers are asked to inform the bus operator they are attending the festivities.
