Caring for life and breath

Respiratory therapist Jean St. Aubin (centre), and registered nurse Jana St. Aubin, owners of Complete Health Care Solutions; and Tony Cunningham, manager of the respiratory therapists at the St. Joseph’s Health Care Centre, recently celebrated Respiratory Therapist Week. Complete Health Care Solutions provided lunches to respiratory therapists (RTs) at Memorial, Laurentian and St. Joseph’s Health Care Centre hospital sites. RTs work in all areas of the hospital and deal with patients who have heart and lung problems, such as asthma, emphysema and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

They also work in critical care and in the neonatal intensive care unit with people who require life support. There are 45 RTs at the St. Joseph’s Health Care Centre. Complete Health Care Solutions is a respiratory home care service that provides oxygen therapy and sleep therapy to clients with respiratory illnesses.
