Greater Sudbury's annual Pride Week, a celebration of the city's queer community, takes place July 10-16.*

This will be the 20th anniversary of Pride Week in Sudbury — with LGBTQ2SIAAP events having been organized in the city since 1997.

The organization behind Pride celebrations, Fierté Sudbury Pride, has a full slate of events planned to mark the milestone anniversary.

Festivities get underway July 10 with the official Pride flag raising ceremony at the James Jerome Sports Complex at 11 a.m.

Then at 6 p.m., Energy Minister and Sudbury MPP Glenn Thibeault and Sudbury MP Paul Lefebvre host the Pride Paddle on Ramsey Lake starting from the Northern Water Sports Centre.

At 7:30 p.m., visit One Sky on Durham Street where author, activist and mentor Sarah Lashbrook will have a book reading and meet and greet.

From 8-9 p.m., enjoy a Two Souls Yoga Pride Practice at 469 Bouchard Street with all proceeds supporting the Rainbow Camp.

On July 11, Myths & Mirrors will host a sign-making workshop from 3-5 p.m. in Memorial Park in preparation for the Pride March.

Then at 7 p.m., Myths & Mirrors hosts the Trans Artistry Show at the Sudbury Theatre Centre.

On July 12, join the Greater Sudbury Police Service and the Child and Family Centre at 11 a.m. for a Pride BBQ on Evergreen Street off Frood Road. Admission is by a $5 minimum donation.

At 6 p.m., TG Innerselves and SACY present speaker Adam McMaster, a trans youth and performer, at the Open Studio on Cedar Street.

Also at 6 p.m., Réseau Access Network and RBC  present A Night at the Movies at Imagine Cinemas in the Rainbow Centre.

At 11 p.m., head to Zig's for the 19+ Pride Idol competition.

On July 13, the Centre du santé communautaire du Grand Sudbury presents a Francophone Pride feast at 19 Frood Road at 11 a.m.

At 5:30 p.m., Réseau Access Network presents the free Gay/Bi/Trans Men's Pride Clinic at 111 Larch Street.

At 7 p.m., the Sudbury Theatre Centre hosts the Big Gay Cabaret featuring all things merry and gay as a lineup of 100-per-cent-local queer talent takes to the stage. Admission is $15.

At 9 p.m., head to Zig's for Dirty Drag Queen Bingo.

On July 14, the Open Studio hosts In Your Pocket: Northward, a screening of fascinating short films created by local LGBTQ+ artists at 5:30 p.m.

At 7 p.m., STC hosts the FSP Pride Prom, a fabulous free event for all LGBTQ+ youth and their friends. The evening features music, food, fun and friends with celebrity drag host Fara N Hyte.

At 9 p.m., Zig's hosts the Pride Drag Show.

July 15 is the main event — Pride Day in the Park from 12-5 p.m. in Memorial Park. It's a grand, family-friendly event celebrating 20 years of LGBTQ+ culture in the north. At 2 p.m., the Pride March will take to the streets of Downtown Sudbury.

At 9 p.m., Zig's hosts the Pride Palooza.

July 16, St. Peter's United Church presents a non-denominational service, Spirit of Pride, celebrating the LGBTQ+ community at STC at 11 a.m.

From 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., enjoy a Two Souls Yoga Pride Practice at 469 Bouchard Street with all proceeds supporting the Rainbow Camp.

At 1 p.m. NCRD presents the Rainbow Pride Scrimmage at Carmichael Arena. Celebrate Pride and cheer on your favourite roller derby team. 

Fierté Sudbury Pride Week Festival is open to everybody and is an event for the whole community.
