Saint Patrick's Day may be Sunday, March 17, but that doesn't mean you won't be seeing a whole lot of green around Greater Sudbury tonight.

Held annually to honour the death of Ireland's patron saint, St. Patrick's Day is celebrated in a variety of ways across the world but the theme is simple - wear green and having fun doing it. 

To help you plan you weekend, Sudbury.com has put together a list of some of the city's most popular events, as well as services to help you get home safely. 

Saturday, March 16:

The Coulson Nightclub will be hosting their St. Patrick's celebration 'SUGARBOOM' Saturday, which will include prizes, party favours for the first 200 guests and signature green draft beer.

Bringing the party to New Sudbury is Lounge 390, who will be hosting classic rock n' roll band 'The Consumers' at 7 p.m. tonight for their St. Patrick's Day celebration. 

Feelin' lucky? Check out retro band Roller Rink Rewind at Gateway Casino's Sudbury tonight, at the entertainment centre's St. Patrick's Day celebration. 

Out in the valley, Cousin Vinny's will be celebrating St. Patrick's Day with a Marc Serre Faceoff featuring Chris Newman and Matt Foy tonight at 8 p.m. 

If 9 p.m. sounds like a better bedtime to you, the Adult Enrichment Centre will be hosting a St. Patrick's Day Dance this evening which includes dinner, dances, prizes and more, for the cost of $20. 

Marshall's Bar & Grill in Espanola, invites you to get 'Sham-rocked' at their St. Patrick's Day Bash featuring hard rock tribute bank WhiteNoiz tonight at 9 p.m.

 

Sunday, March 17

The Townhouse Tavern will be celebrating St. Patrick's Day with two shows Sunday, with a traditional Irish dinner available for an additional $10 during the 6 p.m. performance. 

The Grand Nightclub's St. Patty's Night Bash - Black Green, will take place Sunday and include a real cash drop, with an admission price of $20. 

SRO Nightclub & Lounge will be St. Patrick's themed all weekend long, with a 21+ performance by DJ Harley tonight and 19+ event with DJ UZ Sunday. 

Doors open for Zig's St. Patrick's Day-Night Party Sunday at 10 p.m., featuring DJ Booma and a variety of prizes to be won through the club's signature 'jig-off' dance contest. 

Fionn MacCool's will be celebrating St. Patrick's Day with live music beginning at 12 p.m. Sunday, featuring the talents of Andy Lowe, Beyond Ireland and Wild Geese. 

In Garson, Ferrigan's Pub will be hosting 'Sudbury's Largest St. Patrick's Day Party' Sunday, with performances by Jim Armstrong, Sudbury Heritage Irish Dancers and the Sudbury District Pipe Band. 

Jube's Bar & Grill will be Copper Cliff's St. Patrick's Day party central, with live music running from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. 

Grab some green beer, green wings and enjoy some authentic celtic music at Wacky Wings Sunday, for their 'Gettin' Lucky St. Patrick's Day' celebration.

Grab your bangers and mash, dance your heart away and enjoy performances by the Lockerby Highlanders Pipe Band, at the Lockerby Legion Branch 564 St. Patrick's Day celebration Sunday. 

 

Transportation 

BadHabits Entertainment will be offering a 'Safe Ride Home' program Saturday and Sunday, which will include transportation from Huntington University to The Grand, a line bypass and a ride back to campus, for the cost of $5. 

Driverseat Sudbury is a low-cost designated driver service, which allows you to be driven home in the comfort of your own vehicle.

Sudbury has a number of taxi services for you to choose from, three of which are Aaron Taxi (705-670-0000),  AC Taxi (705-586-7777) and Lockerby Taxi (705-522-2222).

Although previously mentioned in a GSPS press release, Safe Ride Home Sudbury will not be available on St. Patrick's Day.
