Well known for her portraits of animals, Sudbury artist Colette Thériault exhibits at Artists on Elgin during the month of April.

Drawn to Nature is a collection of the artist’s newest works depicting her deep admiration and empathy for all living things and emphasizing the importance for conservation.

Thériault's work is found in private and corporate collections around the globe. She uses predominantly soft pastels or graphite to capture her subjects in a photo-realistic style.

“To me Mother Nature herself is a canvas in perpetual motion; I admire her and she inspires me to share the love and respect I have for her through my art,” said Thériault.

“Whether wild or domestic, I strive to convey the animal's spirit and character. If I can captivate the viewers and bring them into my world of art, then I have truly succeeded.”

An opening reception for Drawn to Nature takes place at Artists on Elgin from 1-4 p.m. April 8.
