The Sudbury Manitoulin Children’s Foundation (SMCF) and La Casa Mexicana are partnering up to host a fiesta on May 6 for Cinco de Mayo.

The event is organized to to support local marginalized children and youth attend summer camp, recreational activities, and post-secondary education.

SMCF is a non-profit charitable organization that has existed since 1976 and has a goal of removing barriers that prevent children from having fun and being kids.

Silvia Rios, owner of La Casa Mexicana, said in a press release that she wanted to show her gratitude to Sudbury for keeping her restaurant in business over the pandemic by paying it forward to the SMCF.

“What better way to show gratitude than by paying it forward?” Rios said.

The event will have meals, drinks, music by Luciano, and free salsa lessons by Zoi Monroy. Join the evening of fun at 49 Elgin, May 6 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
