Canadian comedy icon Mike Bullard is coming to the Nickel City later this month.

He performs at the Trevi at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24.

“We are really looking forward to having Mike come to entertain Sudbury audiences,” said Mark Mannisto, president of Sudbury Performance Group, which is presenting the show.

“Mike put the Canadian talk show style on the map with his witty humour and has a comic style that everyone will enjoy.”

Mike Bullard accomplished something no other Canadian had before: hosted Canada's first truly successful nightly talk show. Running for six seasons, Open Mike was one of the longest running late-night talk shows in North America.

The Gemini award-winning series was the most-watched late-night talk show in Canada's largest market, comparable in popularity and success to late-night heavyweights Letterman and Leno.

Bullard is a multi-disciplinary comic who has published a book, “Open Book: Little Thoughts from a Big Head”, and has also recorded a CD, “Stick 2 Comedy”. Recognized as "Favourite Talk Show Host" by the readers of TV Guide, Bullard has come a long way from the grind of Canada's comedy club circuit, where for over a decade he cultivated a reputation as one of the quickest and cleverest club wits in in the country.

Open Mike debuted in November of 1997 on The Comedy Network and went on to be picked up by the CTV network in 1998. In 2002, he was voted one of the Top 10 Funniest Canadians in a nationwide poll.

Doors to the show open at 5:30 p.m., with the show at 7 p.m. Tickets are $35 (or you can get VIP tickets for $55) and can be purchased at SudburyPerformance.ca, in person at the Trevi Bar & Grill, or by calling 705-662-8518.
