A comedy night scheduled for Sept. 13 at Algoma Buddies in Chelmsford is no small potatoes.
Local comedy club promoter Derek Young has partnered with Algoma Buddies to offer up a tasty twist to the comedy night, which features Montreal comedian Derek Seguin, joined by Chelmsford comedian Robert Simoneau.
“Given Sept. 13 is the new Spudsbury Festival in support of the Human League, we have added a Poutine Party to our show,” said Young.
“We know Northerners and Quebecers love their Poutine, so it’s a great fit for Montreal Comedian Derek Seguin.”
Come to Algoma Buddies from 7-9 p.m. Sept. 13, order any meal, change your fries to a poutine and Algoma Buddies will donate 20 per cent to the Human League.
Tickets, which cost $15, are on sale now at Algoma Buddies. Group discounts are available for 10 or more people.
Seguin’s take on all things in life have a Quebecois flare to them that is hysterical for everyone and he’s often as funny for how he says things as for what he’s actually saying (You’ll see).
Whether he’s ragging on politics or describing life with his children, he brings us into his perspective without preaching any selfish point of view. His undeniable charm makes him simply fun to watch and listen to.
An award winning stand-up comedian, Seguin travels throughout Canada and the American Northeast to comedy clubs, corporate engagements and festivals, including five appearances at the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal where he taped a gala for HBO just this past summer where he received a standing-ovation at the city’s 3500 seat Place des Arts for his efforts.
Seguin has performed with Jeremy Hotz, Russell Peters, Mike MacDonald, and Sugar Sammy. He is a regular on CBC Radio’s The Debaters having made well over a dozen appearances. He has performed at the LOL Sudbury Comedy Festival, Winnipeg Comedy Festival, and the Canadian Comedy Awards.
Seguin also performs at Ferrigan’s Pub (formerly O’Malley’s) in Garson Sept. 12. For more information, phone 705-918-2601 or visit www.facebook.com/foreveryoungshows
