On April 20, 1999, two Grade 12 students at Columbine High School in Columbine, Colorado, murdered 12 students and one teacher at their school, and then killed themselves.

They also injured an additional 21 people with gunshots, and also exchanged gunfire with police. At the time, it was the deadliest shooting at a high school in United States history.

The Nickel City Wind Ensemble marks the 20th anniversary of this tragic event at an April 7 concert.

The group will perform American composer Frank Ticheli’s haunting “American Elegy.”

The concert takes place at Lockerby Composite School Auditorium Sunday, April 7 at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets are available at Gourmet World (cash only), by phoning 705-626-2601, or at the door. Ticket are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors/students. Children 12 and under are free.

“This is one concert you will not want to miss,” said a press release.
