Sudbury Performance Group presents Rock of Ages May 1-17.

Get ready to turn back the clock and crank up the volume!

Sudbury Performance Group said it is thrilled to announce its upcoming production of the smash-hit musical Rock of Ages, running from May 1-17 at Thorneloe University on the Laurentian campus.

It’s the tail end of the big, bad 1980s in Hollywood, and the party is raging at full tilt. At one of the Sunset Strip’s last legendary venues, Aqua Net, lycra, lace and liquor flow freely.

Sex machine Stacee Jaxx rules the stage, while wide-eyed dreamers Drew and Sherri chase their dreams and each other. But when German developers threaten to demolish the Strip and build a soulless strip mall, it’s up to the gang — and the music of rock legends like Def Leppard, Journey, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake and more — to save the day!

Doors open each night at 6:30 p.m., with the show kicking off at 7:30 p.m. Audiences will be treated to an electric live experience with an incredible local live band playing the iconic anthems that defined a generation.

"We are so proud to feature a cast and band made up of 100 per cent local talent,” said Mark Mannisto, president of Sudbury Performance Group.

“Having the incredible artists of Sudbury on stage is not just important to us — it’s our mandate. 'Rock of Ages' is a celebration of big dreams and bigger music, and there's no better way to tell this story than with the powerhouse performers right here in our community."

Rock of Ages promises a night of big hair, big dreams, and even bigger hits. Get ready to laugh, sing along, and experience the magic of live theatre and rock and roll all over again.

Tickets are available now at sudburyperformance.ca.
