Blues mainstay Downchild and crooner Emilie-Claire Barlow are the headliners at this year's Jazz Sudbury Festival, which will takes place Sept. 5-7 at the Grace Hartman Amphitheatre.

“Once again, Jazz Sudbury offers top-notch jazz and blues groups for its sixth festival,” said Allan Walsh, Jazz Sudbury artistic director, in a press release.

Members of the Canadian Blues Hall of Fame, Downchild have more than a dozen albums of original music to their credit since their 1969 founding. Their latest album, "Can You Hear The Music," won the 2014 JUNO Award for Blues Album of the Year.

Three-time Juno nominee Barlow has earned a reputation for electrifying live performances and clever musical arrangements.

A multi-instrumentalist, she's known for her fun, dramatic performances.

In addition to the headlining acts for this year, Jazz Sudbury is also pleased to be providing a solid slate of performers to keep the music going.

Local favourites Hugh Jazz, who performed at the June 25 launch, return, with acts like Kevin Turcotte and the Borealis Quartet and the Heavyweights Brass Band also bringing extra heat to the festival.

Early birds ticket buyers get the special rate of $60, while guests coming to the door will be able to access the festival for $80, while day passes will retail at $45.
