Downtown Movie Lounge Sudbury has announced it's opening its doors May 20.

The cinema is opening in the former Rainbow Cinemas location in the Rainbow Centre Mall in downtown Sudbury.

“We now have an official opening....Friday May 20th, you will all have an opportunity to see great movies in a fantastic new location.....details on movies and times will be released shortly,” said a statement on the cinema's Facebook page.

“We are so excited to bring this wonderful venue to the downtown core!!”

The cinema is operated by Imagine Cinemas, a small, independent movie theatre chain based in southwestern Ontario.

Imagine has put more than $1.5 million into the six-screen Sudbury theatre to create an upscale experience. It's installed larger screens, Dolby surround sound and large, electric recliners, replacing the typical movie theatre seats.

The cinema also recently announced its ticket prices: $12 for adults, $8 for kids under 14, $8 for seniors over 65 and $6 on Tuesdays.
