As residents in Greater Sudbury continue to practice social distancing Sudbury.com is putting together a weekly list of local virtual events and projects to keep families busy and offer some welcome distraction from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sudbury Performance Group virtual concert series

March 25 & April 1

The two-month concert series will be streamed live every Thursday from The Coulson Nightclub. This week’s events feature Naked Soul on March 25 and Phil Morris on April 1. Performances are free of charge and will be streamed on the Sudbury Performance Group Facebook page from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Sudbury Indie Cinema virtual screenings

Enjoy the Indie from the comfort of your own home. In addition to the following virtual screenings, the Indie has launched Movie Night Take-Out. Every Friday munch on the delicious snacks you buy at the Indie at home. Combos include popcorn, chocolate, alcohol and more.

Celebrate Women online event
March 25

Need something new for your reading pleasure during a pandemic, while helping

our community? Celebrate Women Sudbury returns to mark its 25th year with best-selling author Mary Lawson and her new book, A Town Called Solace, tonight (March 25) at 7 p.m. During the new online format, Lawson will speak live from her home in England. Tickets are $10. Event and registration details can be found at cfuwsudbury.com. Funds raised support services and scholarships for Sudbury women.

Sweet Yarns, located at 1465 Bancroft Dr., is livestreaming knitting circles on its Facebook page every Thursday night from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Join in here.

Sudbury Kiwanis online festival
Registration now open 

Registration is now open for the festival, which will run March 29-31 and April 6-9. Those who wish to register are required to upload a video of their performance using YouTube. Visit SudburyKiwanisMusicFestival.ca for more information.

Le Maschere Laurenziane's annual Italian theatre production will take place online this year on March 28. The show begins at 2 p.m. and can be viewed for free, here.

Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon Parents’ Participation Committee is offering families a comedy talk and workshop on March 31 at 6:30 p.m.. The humorous evening hosted by Martin Larocque will focus on the role of parents in 2021. The conference is free and will broadcasted on Zoom.
