Live show tickets are available online here. Livestreaming tickets are available here.
Prairie Oyster was awarded six Juno Awards, more than a dozen Canadian Country Music Awards and many gold and platinum records. The band was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in 2008.
Prairie Oyster was always more than a “country” band, and deCarle’s warm, burnished and intimate voice has always brought out the best in an eclectic range of songs. Russell’s excellent discriminating taste in music runs from southern soul to jazz, blues, Tex-Mex, country classics, western swing and tin pan alley.
His own songwriting has absorbed all those influences.
In this tour deCarle is joined by Russ Boswell on bass and Steve Briggs on guitar, to highlight the release of his fourth album after the Oyster years, “The End of the Road.”
Briggs, a long time deCarle collaborator and compadre, is a superb ace guitarist, whose playing is always subtle, tasteful, and understated.
A native of Powell River, B.C., Briggs is a graduate of the Berklee School of Music in Boston. Steve has performed, arranged and recorded with a host of musical stars including Sylvia Tyson, Quartette, Murray McLauchlan, Leon Redbone and Carroll Baker among many others. He was also the leader of the Bebop Cowboys, probably the best western swing band Canada ever produced.
