Former Sudburian Cheryl Cerri recently released a Christmas album called “Christmas Legacy,” as well as a one-hour musical show featuring music from the CD, the "Cheryl Cerri Christmas Legacy Special.”
Both the album and the show were produced completely by Cerri, who has called Alliston, Ont. in the GTA home for eight years.
"I wanted this year 2020 to close with something meaningful and positive and close to my heart so for that reason, I decided to create this collection of many most loved Christmas songs,” she said, in a press release.
"I wanted to bring some Christmas to the homes of those who were home alone and have no one visiting and those who could not be with family and friends, or go to church which was pretty much all of us. My goal and hope was that it brings some Christmas to their homes this 2020.
“Songs included on the CD are: It Came Upon A Midnight Clear, O Holy Night, The First Noel, Ave Maria Schubert, Auld Lang Syne, Silent Night, In The Bleak Mid Winter, What Child Is This, Ave Maria Bach Gounod, Away In A Manger, a Classical O Holy Night, and His Name Is Jesus, which is my original."
For two of the 12 songs on the CD, Cerri enlisted the talents of her mother, Eleanor Connors, an accomplished pianist, music teacher and director in Sudbury. Those songs include, Ave Maria by Schubert and His Name Is Jesus, an original song written by Cerri.
They collaborated on the two songs and created a video of each. Connors filmed in Sudbury while Cerri filmed in Alliston.
Her mother sent her part of the video of her playing piano to Cerri and Cerri then proceeded to edit both videos together to produce two videos of them singing and playing together. Both can be seen on the full show of 12 songs.
All other instrumental music Cerri sings with is produced by a company she enlisted to create all of her instrumental backups.
Cerri proceeded to perform each song on the CD live and create her Christmas Special show interspersing it with introductions and some life long memories, and then released it on Social Media. It received thousands of views and wonderful comments.
