Galerie du Nouvel-Ontario (GNO) has announced their newest exhibition, and the first one to be held in their new location at Place des arts.

The exhibition Pi, in progress, showcases artist Lise Beaudry as she shares the process behind the creation of Pi (2020-2022), a permanent installation that stands 3.14 meters tall, “like a pillar at the heart of the Place des Arts’ foyer,” states a release from GNO.

Further in the gallery, the video installation Shine Bright/Behind the scenes (2021-2022) is a compilation of the numerous finds made by Beaudry in the archives of the seven founding organizations of Place des arts, GNO, as well as Carrefour francophone, Centre franco-ontarien de folklore, Galerie du Nouvel-Ontario, Éditions Prise de parole, Nuit sur l'étang, Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario and Salon du livre du Grand Sudbury.

“Echoing the 15,000 stacked photos and the transcendent value that is pi — a quality that is also that of the Place des Arts — the video reveals the creative impulse that underlies an artistic community in the making,” states the release.

You can see the unveiling of this inaugural exhibition starting on April 30, at 5 pm, and it will run until May 30.

You can find more information about the exhibition at the GNO website, found here
