Almost 2,000 francophone students from the region will converge on the Grace Hartman Amphitheatre in Bell Park June 9 for a concert in celebration of St-Jean Baptiste Day.

The event features a performance by Hey Wow, described as a “Franco-Ontarian alternative-traditional festive band.”

Hey Wow is Jean-Marc Lalonde's new band. Well known as the accordionist from La Ligue du Bonheur and Deux Saisons, Lalonde has set aside his checkered shirt for a more modern sound.

With a crazy accordion, an ominous bass, frenzied drums and a sumptuous-sounding electric guitar, Hey Wow defies any preconceived ideas of festive orchestra.

The concert is presented through the collaborative effort of the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO), the Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario (CSPGNO) and Laurentian University.
