Former Sudburian and film producer Brandon Nutt is filming his dramatic thriller movie, Phase One, in Sudbury.

His company, Nutthouse Moving Pictures, is filming in the community until December.

Sudbury doubles as a Colorado town in the film. The movie crew have set up shop on Ramsey Lake Road.

One of the actors in the film, Travis Van Winkle, has acted in Transformers and Friday the 13th. He plays one of the people who try to make quick cash in what they believe is a program testing an allergy medicine.

"Independents are less tightly run. They are more fun," he said.

Shooting of the film takes place in various Sudbury locations, including Laurentian University, Willet Green Miller Centre, Ministry of Northern Development and Mines, as well as on a set being constructed at Cambrian Arena.

Nutt's last film, Finding Bliss, played at Cinéfest this year.
