Sudbury native Sara Gougeon is back home this summer to play a handful of shows as she debuts her new single “Invisible Closet” from her upcoming album.

She describes the song as a gay anthem for the LGBT community. It expands on the idea of being “in the closet” with your sexual identity, and allowing people to take the time to discover who they truly are.

A contemporary folk artist, Gougeon is a student at the Berklee College of Music, studying songwriting, music business and music technology.

She released her debut EP "Home Again" in August of last year and is currently in the process of recording her new album "The Long Road.”

Her accomplished writing led her to be selected as a finalist for the well-respected John Lennon Songwriting Contest in 2018, an international contest established by Yoko Ono in 1997.

Gougeon will perform tonight (June 12) at La Fromagerie, where she will officially release her single.

She also has shows coming up June 21 at Little Montreal (show starts at 9 p.m.), July 13 as part of Sudbury Pride (time and venue TBD), July 27 at Manitoulin Brewing on Manitoulin Island and Aug. 1 at Tony Vs in Sudbury (show starts 6:30 p.m.)
