Petryna Advertising of Sudbury is the agency of record for the 18th annual Cinéfest film festival, which will take place from Sept. 16 to 24.
This year's poster image is a gigantic eye.
"They say a picture is worth a thousand words. We we
are using our sense of sight, we can be influenced to have
strong emotions," says designer Curt Lazure. "The eye
is representing that sense."
The eye has a reflection of movie images. It also has makeup
on it to reflect the glamour and creativity of the movie
business.

Interim executive director Tammy Frick joked "the
eye" would probably be bloodshot after the festival from
watching so many films.

A giant Cinéfest poster has been mounted on the wall outside
SilverCity, the festival's venue.

Petryna Advertising is also responsible for designing tickets
and passports as well as print advertising.

Major sponsors of the festival, which began in 1989, are CTV,
Cineplex Entertainment and Bell Canada. Gala movie sponsors are
PLM Printers, Petryna Advertising, Desjardins Group, Inco Ltd.,
Laurentian University, Collège Boréal and Big Daddy 103.9.

Other corporate sponsors include Steamwhistle (the beer
sponsor) and Coca-Cola.

Cinéfest also receives support from FedNor, Service Canada, The
Ontario Trillium Foundation, Ontario Development Corporation,
the City of Greater Sudbury, Teléfilm Canada, Cultural Human
Resources Council and Ministry of Culture.

Sudbury MPP Rick Bartolucci said the Ontario Tourism Marketing
Program was contributing $15,000 to market the festival in
southern Ontario and Quebec.
