Killarney Mountain Lodge has been notified that they are one of three finalists in the 2019 Ontario Culinary Tourism Experience award competition.

The competition is presented by the non-profit Culinary Tourism Alliance and the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO).

“We take great pride in offering unique dining experiences featuring Northern Ontario favorites and First Nation influences and the professionalism with which it is presented to our guests,” said Killarney general manager Kelly McAree, in a press release.

“To be recognized for our efforts is tremendously rewarding.”

Food tourism includes the active pursuit of unique and memorable eating and drinking experiences.

It also includes agritourism experiences that connect what is being grown and produced in an area to what is being prepared and enjoyed by locals.

This encompasses travel experiences where a person learns about or consumes food that reflects the history, heritage, and culture of a locale.

The winners will be announced at the 2019 Ontario Tourism Awards Gala Oct. 30 in Collingwood.
