Love coffee and home décor? This downtown cafe is for you

The Cedar Nest Decor Cafe opened earlier this month

If you love coffee and home décor, there's a new cafe in downtown Sudbury you'll probably want to visit.

The Cedar Nest Decor Cafe opened at 11 Cedar St. on April 8.

It offers everything a typical cafe would, including hot drinks, baked goods, sandwiches and salads, but also sells home décor items such as wreaths and planters.

Owner Suzette Peters describes her home décor style as “shabby chic” or “upscale country.” In keeping with the cafe's name, many of the items are bird-related.

“I've always wanted my own decorating store since the beginning of time,” said Peters, who's running the business with the help of her mom and daughter.

“I knew that Sudbury probably wouldn't support just a decorating store downtown. I wanted to do something a little different, something that's not been done here.

“I figured let's open up a coffee shop. It'll give people a new place to go.

“One of the things my girlfriends and I had noticed was that there wasn't really somewhere to go in Sudbury that was more our style. I said I'll build it, then people will come.”

There's already several popular cafes in the downtown, and yet another one — Salute Coffee Company's second location — is expected to open on Elm Street May 1.

But Peters said she doesn't see that as a problem.

“I think there's enough real estate down here to share between everyone,” she said, adding that each business has something unique to offer.

The cafe is already attracting a lot of bank employees who work nearby, and other downtown business owners have dropped by to wish Peters well.

The Cedar Nest Decor Cafe is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. Visit the business' Facebook page for more information.
