New Brunswick blues musician Matt Andersen said his concerts are kind of like “a big kitchen party.”

If you happen to take in his May 28 concert at Laurentian University's Fraser Auditorium, expect to see him get up on stage accompanied by only his guitar.

"I'm going to try to make this as relaxing as I can,” Andersen said.

Since early this year, Andersen has been on the road, doing concerts and promoting his eighth full-length album, “Weightless,” released this past February.

The album was produced by Grammy-winning producer Steve Berlin, and features songs co-written by Andersen and musicians Joel Plaskett, David Myles, Dave Gunning and Tom Wilson.

“All the people who wrote with me on the album, we're really good friends, so it was cool to do that,” Andersen said.

Opening for Andersen at his Sudbury show is Ottawa folk and blues musician Jeremy Fisher.

Tickets to the show, which cost $40, are available through the Sudbury Theatre Centre box office by phoning 705-674-8381.
