More dates added to ‘Elf: The Musical’ run

The show’s original run had sold out
Elf: The Musical runs at the Sudbury Theatre Centre building until Dec. 23.

If you were hoping to catch the YES Theatre/STC holiday production of “Elf: The Musical,” you’re in luck.

The production’s run, which began last week, has now been extended until Dec. 23. More shows were added because the original run had sold out.

“Elf: The Musical” is a musical based on the popular 2003 film of the same name starring Will Ferrell.

It’s one of the most beloved holiday stories of the 21st century: Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole.

The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth.

With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks upon a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh realities that his father is on the naughty list and his half-brother doesn’t even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.

This modern-day holiday classic is sure to make everyone embrace their inner elf. After all, the best way to spread Christmas cheer is by singing loud for all to hear.

Not only will you walk away believing in Santa Claus, you’ll also have a renewed faith in the power of theatre.

YES Theatre/STC’s version of “Elf: The Musical” is directed and produced by Alessandro Costantini, with choreography by Janie Pinard.

Performers include Jonathan Cullen as Buddy, E Simbagoye as Jovie, David Kirby as Walter Hobbs, Louise Camilleri as Emily Hobbs and Gaia Dhatt as Michael Hobbs.
