Music majors to perform concert

It's not every day people are exposed to classical music, which is why Sophie Bertrand is planning to sing at a classical concert accompanied by her classmate William Lemieux.

Both Bertrand and Lemieux are second-year music students in Laurentian University's bachelor of music program.  Their concerts will take place at St. Peter's United Church on York St.,  Friday, May 12 at 7 pm and Saturday, May 13  at 2 pm.

Bertrand is a voice major while Lemieux is a pianist.

Aside from being a good way to expose people from the community to classical music, Bertrand looks at the concert as a good way to get experience in performing. "I want to go on to do my master's in performance, so the more I get to perform classical music, the more experience I get," she said.

Tickets cost $10. Most of the money will go to pay to rent the concert space, but the students hope to raise some money for a bursary.

Tickets are available by phoning Bertrand at 671-9562.
