The Art Gallery of Sudbury holds a new fundraising event called Party Art Très Chic! during the evening of April 25.

The gala evening art party features an artist-friendly auction of fine art donated by regional visual artists including Jon Butler, Dennis Castellan, Elizabeth Holmes, Sue Lampinen, Ron Langin, Gillian Schultze, Heather Topp, and Johanna Westby.

The gallery is partnering with local designers, artists, and retailers to put together a one-of-a kind fashion show that includes high fashion, street fashion and artist fashion.

The fashion component of the evening will also include an auction element. Sudbury fashion contributors confirmed to date include Eddie Mira, Fancy to a Tee, San’z handcrafted, and Starlotte Satine Vintage.

Sudbury artist collective Sew Local Stitch Lounge is creating an art work for the evening. Their piece is centred around body positivity and the impact that media and society have on what we choose to wear and not to wear. The artists have reached out to the Sudbury community through Facebook for input.

Local floral designers who are creating stunning floral arrangements in response to artwork from the Permanent Collection include Mimi Landry (Bella Flora), Cathy Parker (Fleurs Magique), Jennifer Keast (Regency Wine and Flowers), Terry Vendetti (Terry Vendetti Interiors), among others. There will be a surprise contribution from Guilty Pleasures Bakeshop + Bar.

Designer Fuel Media developed the graphic design for the event. Other local artist contributors to the evening include DJ Groovy Betty, a bespoke catering menu from The Motley Kitchen, and Samantha Seer from Sibyl Craft (Tarot readings). Additional event sponsors include KPMG and Scotiabank.

“Proceeds from Party Art Très Chic! directly support the charitable work undertaken by Art Gallery of Sudbury in the area of art educational programs, the ability to work with and display regional artists, and in maintaining and caring for the Gallery’s permanent collections of regional art,” said the gallery's director/curator, Demetra Christakos, in a press release.

“We so appreciate the support!”

Tickets are on sale now for $65 ($55 for Art Gallery of Sudbury members). Tickets can be purchased at artsudbury.org, or bought in person at the gallery, located at 251 John St., Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 5 p.m., Sunday 12 noon to 5 p.m.
