Last week, Sudbury instrumental synthpop band Telecolor released what it described in a press release as its most dance-y single yet, Red.

The piano, synth and drums driven track is an ode to the feeling of freedom and abandon felt during a roadtrip, a music festival or aboard a roller coaster, said the band in a press release.

It will plunge its listeners into a happy haven of true life in between the more difficult moments. “In a sense, Red is your shoulders dropping after work, it's the first sharp breath after jumping in an icy lake, it's the feeling of pure joy captured in sonic form.”

Recorded and produced by Telecolor and Matthew Wiewel at Deadpan Studios in Sudbury during the summer of 2019, Red is the third single from Telecolor's upcoming full-length record “Chamades” (full release November 2021).

(We also featured Telecolor’s previous singles Fleurs and Patience on New Music Mondays earlier this summer).

The track is available for download on streaming platforms, including Spotify.

Telecolor is a three-piece instrumental synthpop band where the harmonious timbres of analogue synthesizers and the polyrhythms of acoustic drums meld into a hypnotic sonic concoction.

Without singing a single note, Telecolor conveys its message through musical and spoken interactions with the audience as well as colourful video projections, said the press release.

The combination of these elements makes it impossible for the crowd to resist the urge to dance and stop smiling.

Since its humble beginnings in a suburban basement, Telecolor has produced a five-song EP titled Lumia, and has performed its multimedia show at a number of venues throughout Ontario and Québec.

Show highlights include Up Here Urban Art & Music Festival (Sudbury, Ont.), Festival de musique émergente en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (Rouyn-Noranda, Que.), River & Sky Camping and Music Festival (Field, ON), La Nuit émergente (Sudbury, Ont.) les Jeux franco-ontariens (Hanmer, ON), Contact Ontarois (Ottawa, Ont.).

Their music has been featured or covered on CBC Radio One, Ici Première (Radio-Canada), Ici Musique, TFO’s BRBR as well as local media.
