Latitude 46 Publishing launches its first publication, “Along the 46th,” a short story anthology featuring new works of fiction from an eclectic mix of Northern Ontario authors, on Nov. 14.

The anthology features short stories from 13 emerging and recognized authors, whose thought-provoking tales force us to confront regional stereotypes and re-imagine the place along the 46th parallel.

“These stories are provocative, assertive and maybe even a little peculiar, but the tone we set with Along the 46th gives our readers a sense of what to expect from us in future publications,” said co-publisher Laura Gregorini, in a press release.

Featured authors include: Darlene Naponse, Rob Dominelli, Matthew Heiti, Casey Stranges, Liisa Kovala, Thomas Leduc, Karen McCauley, Laura E. Young, Tina Siegel, Lara Bradley, Kim Fahner, Eric Moore and Rosanna Micelotta Battigelli.

Co-publisher Heather Campbell said these short stories best reflect the philosophy of the literary press.

“At Latitude 46 we strive to embrace our past and illuminate our present,” said Campbell, “but the future is left to the interpretation of our authors.”

“Along the 46th” is edited by Mitchell Gauvin, with original cover art by Danielle Daniel.

The book launch is open to the public and takes place 2 p.m- 4 p.m. at Verdicchio Ristorante.

Naponse and Dominelli will read excerpts from their work. Copies of “Along the 46th” are $15 each and available at the event.
