The Sudbury Blueberry Festival would normally be taking place this week, but due to COVID-19, there are no scheduled in-person events this year.

While you won’t be taking in the Celebrity Blueberry Pie Eating Contest or the Blueberry Bash in 2020, you can take part in the Blue is Beautiful contest, being put on in partnership with the Sudbury Arts Council.

People are invited to submit work celebrating the colour blue. A variety of mediums are being accepted, including paintings, photos, music, poetry and crafts.

Complete details on the Blue is Beautiful contest are on the website, www.blueberryfestival.ca

The Blue is Beautiful contest is accepting submissions until Sept. 1, and must include a blue colour or blueberry element.  Entries can be paintings, photography, stories, poems, songs or recipes.

There are three different age groups: six and under, seven to 12, and teens and adults.

For painting and photos, send entries in jpg format. For stories, poems and recipes, send in an e-mail or word document or pdf. For musical entries, send a Youtube video link. All entries will be posted on the Blueberry Festival website www.blueberryfestival.ca.

Submissions should be sent to [email protected] and include  age group, phone and home address. Prizes will be awarded in each category in October.
