It is the time of the year to think about helping those in need, and to enjoy a series of great concerts, said Bob Bale, promoter of the annual Dairy Queen Out Of The Cold music series.

Bale has been running a series of monthly charity concerts every fall for seven years to help the needy. The concerts take place Sundays at St. Andrew’s Place, 111 Larch St.

The series donates all profits to the Out of The Cold hot meal program.

“This program provides a supper meal each Friday night from the beginning of November until the end of April. The meal program serves 150 to 200 meals each meal night at St. Andrew’s Place or at the Church of the Epiphany nearby,” said Bale.

The concert series returns Sept, 29, 7 p.m. at St. Andrews Place, with the Travelling Mabels. This Calgary-based four-piece features superb harmonies woven into country-infused folk songs.

Tickets for single shows are $20 and a series pass covering all three concerts in the series are $50. Call Bob at 705-523-6200 for tickets/passes. Early purchase is recommended as the series sells out.
