Herve and Ursula Sauve are avid travellers and have seen many beautiful places around the world, but when it comes to Sudbury, the couple says there's no better place to be.

Herve, 71, and Ursula, 63, said they are proud to live in a city that offers 330 lakes and peaceful green spaces so centrally located.

"We love to be able to go out and have a totally different enviornment to enjoy," Ursula said. "And just 10 minutes from the city."

Herve and Ursula are also proud members of Friends of Lake Laurentian who recently honoured the couple, along with several other outdoor enthusiasts, as patrons of the Lake Laurentian Conservation Area (LLCA) on Sept. 6.

As patrons, Herve and Ursula will help the LLCA to create public awareness of its trails and encourage preservation of Greater Sudbury's natural enviornment.

LLCA also held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the completion of two bridges that were constructed on the 10-km trail known as the Lake Laurentian Loop.

Prior to the bridges begin built, hikers had to detour around a beaver dam and trek through deep mud in the spring.

On Sept. 21, Friends of Lake Laurentian will host its Summer's End Trail Romp for families to enjoy numerous trails and win prizes.

Lake Laurentian Conservation Area is located at 2309 South Bay Rd. and offers scenic lookouts and trails that are ideal for hiking, biking, skiing and snowshoeing.
